Biography

Dr. Wenbo Fan received his Ph.D. (2009) and Bachelor's degree (2004) in Transportation Engineering from Southwest Jiaotong University. He has held various academic positions, including Associate Professor (2016–2025) and Lecturer (2009–2016) at Southwest Jiaotong University, Research Associate (2015–2017) at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and Visiting Scholar (2014–2015) at the University of Maryland, College Park.

Dr. Fan has published over 60 peer-reviewed papers, with more than 1,000 citations and a Google h-index of 17. His work appears in leading journals and conferences, including Transportation Research Part B, C, and E, IEEE-T-ITS, Transport Policy, etc. He has led research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Sichuan Provincial Department of Science and Technology, and co-led a general project funded by the Hong Kong Research Grants Council.

His research has been featured by the U.S. media outlet Next City. He is a recipient of the Third Prize in the Science and Technology Award from the China Intelligent Transportation Association and the Excellent Award in Urban Science at the 4th Qian Xuesen Urban Studies Forum.

Dr. Fan has successfully supervised 25 master’s students and 2 Ph.D. candidates to graduation.
