Abstract
A wavelength conversion method in which the cross-gain modulation of amplitude spontaneous emission of a semiconductor optical amplifier is used to convert the pump signal wavelength by means of the spectrum-spliced method is presented. This method allows pump wavelength to be converted into any other wavelength without using any probe light source. A 2.5 Gbit/s spectrum-sliced incoherent light transmission is used.
