Abstract
A novel channel monitoring system was demonstrated that utilizes fiber Fabry-Perot tunable filters (FFP-TF) and a low cost Fabry-Perot (F-P) laser as a reference source. Temperature of the F-P laser was stabilized at 22°C with a stability of ±0.01°C. A photodiode detector was used to measure the optical power from the FFP-TF. It was shown that the F-P laser at stabilized temperature exhibits the same wavelength stability as the expensive commercial tunable laser.
