Abstract

The development of high-performance apparels is gaining pace these days because consumers are expecting products with better quality and extra functions. And the high-performance garments are generally of higher added values, which is most attractive to the apparel companies. As one of the major fabric manufacturing techniques, warp knitting possesses both flexibility and efficiency in developing novel products either through the use of high-performance yarns or by the adoption of advanced knitting techniques like Piezo Jacquard. The combination of high-performance yarns of different properties with the advanced knitting techniques could provide a wider range of fabric designs with extraordinary performances. In this chapter, the warp knitting technologies, including the machinery, common warp-knitted stitches, and the major knitting techniques, that have been already proven feasible or highly potential for preparation of high-performance apparels are introduced along with some typical examples.
