Abstract
Thermal induced motion for scale models of an atrium immersed in water and air were studied. Atrium models categorized into two groups with different boundary conditions were used for analyzing the smoke movement pattern induced by a thermal source. The first group studies were on a scale model of an actual shopping mall; and the second group consisted of three types of atria classified in a recent survey on the geometrical sizes and shapes for atrium spaces in Hong Kong.
