Abstract

Takht-i-Bahi heritage holds great importance as a world heritage site due to its artistic manifestation of Greco-Buddhism and its profound link with ancient Korean cultural heritage. The site faces challenges due to both natural forces and human-induced threats, such as neglect, unsustainable tourism, and earthquakes. It is crucial to digitally reconstruct, preserve, and generate extended reality (XR) content for the site to accurately depict it in a 3D virtual environment and enhance its audience reach. Thus, we integrated the Takht-i-Bahi heritage site into the museum's immersive content experience using virtual reality (VR) technology with XR content creation. Through active engagement in the VR environment, potential visitors can immerse themselves in a realistic experience of time and space travel, while the visual presentation accurately reflects real-world scenarios. By incorporating the XR virtual environment, the virtual museum will effectively solve the usual challenges faced during visits to the site.
