Abstract
In the development of a numerical model, apart from the simplified channel tests where analytical results are available, it is worthwhile to investigate its effectiveness in real prototype cases. This paper describes the verification of a robust PC based river network model by comparing historical data as well as results by a well tested explicit scheme in Delaware Estuary and Chincoteague Bay. The successful applications provide confidence for its capability as predictive tools in situations involving complex bathymetry and/or non-linear bottom frictional effects. It is also applied to Shing Mun River network in order to test the ability to treat tributaries.
