Abstract
The present book is the first biographical study of Zhu Quan in English. It explores Daoism’s significance for ritual theory. Throughout its six chapters, the book investigates how Ming royal and Daoist rituals were supposed to enact sacred and divine kingship. The book thus promotes a deeper dialogue between Ritual Studies and Daoist Studies.
