N2 - This study explores how age-shifted photos influence health management intentions across different age groups. With rising healthcare costs and aging populations, proactive health management becomes increasingly important. Age-shifted photos, enabled by advances in computer vision and AI, offer a novel approach to encourage healthier choices by visualizing one’s future or past self. Through semi-structured interviews, 120 participants aged 28–84 years were randomly assigned to one of three groups: control, aged-progressed (young-to-old), and age-regressed (old-to-young) photos. Thematic analysis of interview data revealed distinct patterns in health management intentions across groups. Participants exposed to age-progressed photos emphasized mental health and lifestyle adaptations for aging, while those shown age-regressed photos focused on preventive measures to maintain independence. Interestingly, all groups expressed a strong interest in travel, suggesting a universal desire for engagement across age and health orientations. These findings demonstrate the potential of age-shifted photos as a technological intervention for promoting proactive health behaviors, though effectiveness varied, underscoring the importance of personalized approaches. Future implementations should address ethical considerations, assess long-term efficacy, integrate complementary techniques, and adapt to diverse cultural contexts to ensure responsible, impactful health promotion.
