Abstract
The moment effect on finite rider friction under loading is discussed with respect to the classic spring-rider-flat model and formulated in terms of strain energy. The distribution of normal stress and resistance over the flat will no longer be constant when moment occurs. Strain energy will be remarkably greater when moment exists. The distribution of frictional shear stress significantly changes when moment increases with driving force.
