The Use of Interpreting Textbooks: A survey study

Abstract

This study reports the survey results on the use of interpreting textbooks in China. Most of the respondents were from Chinese/English, Chinese/Japanese, or Chinese/Korean language combinations. The survey results indicate that the textbooks were mostly used in sight translation subjects. Trainers and trainees used the textbooks to check their understanding of the source language and compare their renditions to the suggested interpretations. The trainer-respondents also suggested what should be included in future textbook editions.
