Abstract
Metallization is a finishing process in textile treatment that can produce a unique appearance in fabrics. It shows great potential for application to garments, as it has both functional and decorative effects. Chemical plating is an autocatalytic deposition method for precision work in conventional manufacturing. This study has investigated the operational and final properties of using chemical silver plating on cotton and polyester fabrics. The results showed that improved performance of the silver-plated fabric can be obtained if optimum chemical plating is chosen. In addition, fabric designing fabrics using this chemical technique with a craft approach achieved several different effects.
