Abstract

The 2007 ITMA show has been a great platform for weaving machinery makers to show their latest offerings and innovations. For instance, Picanol has featured its high speed OMNIplus 800 series of air jet machines which was reported to increase performance, immediate fabric quality and full modularity. Another is Dornier, which showed the DreFabric and the Blue Maritius and a bullet-proof Aramid fabric. Van de Wiele of Belgium has showcased perhaps the first machine in history completely designed and developed for weaving Axminster carpets at a high speed, wall carpet waving machine Axminster MAX63. Smit Textile has exhibited the 920 series of gripper weaving machines while Promatech presented the Somet AL-PHA PGA rapier loom and Mythos E-Tec air jet looms. The Unished 2, which is a completely new and optimized harnessless positive shed forming machine, has been presented by Grosse JAC. The machine is revolutionary in that it moves heddles together with the warp ends into the upper or lower shed position. Other notable exhibitors at the event include Staubli, Jakob Muller, Panter and Trinca which showcased its Trinca T.2N.10E/PS waving machine for weaving heavy technical fabrics.
