Abstract

Accurate assessment of lightning current distribution among cables in radio base stations (RBSs) is vital for lightning protection design of the system. The bonding condition shows a significantly influence on the lightning current distribution. This paper adopts the partial element equivalent circuit method (PEEC) to analyze the current distribution in RBSs with different bonding conditions. Frequency variant parameter of cables, steel structure and the lossy ground are considered in the simulation. Five different bonding scenarios are discussed in the paper. The results are beneficial for lightning protection design in the RBSs.
