Abstract
Tin-doped YBa2Cu3O7-ysuperconductors are characterized by dielectric constant, Mossbauer spectrum and acoustic internal friction measurements. The Mossbauer spectrum shows that tin goes mainly to the Cu(1) position. The structural and ferroelectric anomalies near 200 K are observed in the temperature-dependence dielectric constant and internal friction. We attribute this phenomenon to the ferroelectric ordering in the Cu-O chains. Doping of tin to the well-ordered Cu-O chains modifies the ferroelectric transition temperature. We analyse the relations between this ferroelectric phase in Cu-O chains and the charge strip phase in the CuO2plane.
