Abstract
This paper considers the development of an expert system for providing guidelines for the engineering of worsted fabrics. The process of fabric engineering and the knowledge and expertise involved in this process are outlined, the application of Expert System technology as applied to fabric engineering is discussed and the progress to date in the development of the worsted fabric expert system is reported on.
