The creation of leather fashion in Hong Kong

Abstract

The main objective of this study was to determine a new model of design process of the Hong Kong leather fashion industry by employing a qualitative research approach and descriptive research design. The study provided some relevant literature about the development and sales channels of the Hong Kong leather fashion industry. A total of 24 fashion designers, sales and marketing managers and fashion educators were interviewed. The model of design process of the Hong Kong leather fashion industry was synthesised and combined from in-depth interviews of the respondents. The result of this study suggested that during the leather fashion design process, the major factors were the artistic value, marketability, consumer attitude and personal interests.
