Abstract

The control of switching dc-dc converters is reviewed. An innovative optimal and robust digital controller is proposed. The strategy of LQR optimal control is adopted to achieve good regulation, rejection to disturbances, and more significantly the ability of catering for switching converters with RHP zeroes. The design approach itself makes use of modern CAD techniques, starting with any raw dc-dc converter topology, to obtain the final control law. Application to a published Cuk converter is illustrated as an example and the performance evaluation is given.
