Abstract

The changing business environment characterized with tensing competitiveness and widely global collaboration requires construction organizations establishing effective and efficient inter-organization management systems to support themselves survival. Collaborative working (CW) is emerging for improving performance and enhancing competitiveness with responding to the changing environment in construction. This research presents the definition of CW underpinned by the principle of collaboration. Through a thorough literature review on selected paper from well-known academic journals in construction management, a critical review on the application of information and communication technology (ICT) in CW in construction projects is presented with focusing on design, project management, and integrated inter-organization management. Some limits of research are concluded, and future research directions are recommended.
