Abstract

This chapter aims to describe woven fabric mechanics and factors in relation to the constituent yarns and fabric structure, which may affect the ultimate mechanical properties of woven fabrics. Factors including weave, crimp, weave factor, and structural geometry are discussed. In order to develop a better understanding of woven fabric mechanics, different modeling approaches including Pierce's geometric model of woven fabric, numerical models, constitutive laws, energy methods, and modern modeling methodologies like computational mechanics are also included in the scope of this chapter.
