Abstract
A widely tunable erbium-doped fiber (EDF) grating ring laser has been demonstrated by varying the temperature of the polymer coated-grating. The fiber grating was coated with a special type of polymer material with large thermal expansion coefficient and so its thermal sensitivity was largely improved. A tuning range of more than 41 nm was achieved by varying the grating temperature from -15 to 160 °C.
