    Abstract

Patternmaking and sewing are foundation courses for all fashion and textile major students. However, only a limited range of construction techniques is taught within the curriculum due to the limited study duration, which brought the negative feedback from the industry indicating a majority of the college graduates possesses insufficient patternmaking and sewing skills not to mention creating ‘made to measure’ patternmaking skills. This demonstrates that an additional attention is needed to be given to current curriculums to correct this deficit. Thus, Massive Online Open Courses (MOOC), a comprehensive e-Learning platform with instructional videos and technical resources, is adopted to provide a flexible and engaging learning environment to foster a technical foundation in patternmaking and sewing for learners.
