Abstract

To encourage family participation and to mobilize family resources in the treatment of obesity are the objectives of this chapter. In this chapter, I show how, as a health educator, I teach students to work with a family who has a mentally handicapped member suffering from obesity. This demonstrates the client-driven approach and the familyvisible mentality that should be suggested when working with these afflicted families.
