Abstract

Treatment of [NBun] [OsNCl4] with 2 equivalents of Na2(mnt) (mnt = maleonitriledithiolate) gave [NBun4] [OsN(mnt)2] 1 in good yield. The structure of 1 has been confirmed by an X-ray diffraction analysis, Os≡N being 1.639(8) Å. The complex shows emission from the 3[(dxy)(dπ*)] excited state.
