Abstract
Poly(ethylene oxide) macromonomer was prepared by the reaction of poly(ethylene glycol) and vinyl benzyl chloride with the help of NaH. Through dispersion copolymerization of poly (ethylene oxide) macromonomer and styrene carried out in the media of ethanol/water, amphiphilic microspheres ranging from 0.5∼1.5μm were prepared. The resulted amphiphilic microspheres were characterized by scanning electron microscope, IR etc, and the formation of copolymer was confirmed by IR spectra of amphiphilic microspheres and solubility of amphiphilic microspheres in the media of benzene. The factors which affected the diameter and diameter distribution of microspheres, including concentration of monomer, concentration of dispersant and composition of the media of reaction, were systematically investigated.
