Abstract
The alkylidyne cluster [H2Os3(CO)9(μ3-CNC5H4CH=CH2)] (1) reacts with the triosmium cluster [Os3(CO)10(NCMe)2] to yield the 94-electron organometallic cluster [HOs6(CO)20(μ-η2-NC5H4CH=CH)] (3). Complex 3 has been shown by X-ray structure analysis to possess an unprecedented planar Os6metal geometry in which an open triosmium chain is fused to an edge of an osmium triangle through two Os-Os bonds and a bridging hydride.
