Abstract
Treatment of [Ru5C(CO)15] with one equivalent of [Hg(CF3)(CF3CO2)], in CH2Cl2, at room temperature affords the new cluster [RU5C(CO)15(HgCF3)(CF3CO2)] (1) in quantitative yield. A single crystal X-ray structural study of 1 shows that it contains a bridged-butterfly Ru5metal core with the HgCF3fragment bridging at the hinge position and the trifluoroacetate coordinated to the bridging ruthenium atom through one oxygen atom.
