Abstract

Reaction of [Os3(CO)10(MeCN)2] with an equimolar proportion of 2-(benzylthio)-benzaldehyde (1) gives three new compounds: two yellow isomers of [Os3(CO)10(μ-H)(C14H11OS)] (2a and 2b) and an orange crystalline compound [Os3(CO)9(μ-H)C14H11OS)] (3). The molecular structures of 2b and 3 are presented. Two different kinds of bonding mode of the ligand were observed, bidentate through S and C(O) in 2 and terdentate through S, C(O) and O in 3.
