Abstract

Design data on the air diffusion systems for air-conditioned buildings in Hong Kong are surveyed to get a general picture of the current practice. Questionnaires were distributed to building services consultant engineers, contracting firms, and building operation and maintenance teams to collect information related to the geometry of the space, primary design objectives and criteria, types of air terminal devices used, and the consideration of the air flow pattern in the space. The surveyed data are then compiled, and correlation equations between key parameters on the air diffusion devices with the floor area are derived. An estimation of the cooling load based on the operating conditions of air diffusion devices was also made.
