Supply chain management in the logistics industry: the case of Hong Kong

Abstract

This paper has three main objectives: to examine supply chain management (SCM) in the logistics industry in Hong Kong to identify the potential problems to the industry of practising SCM to provide recommendations on the implementation of SCM for the industry. These objectives have been achieved in this paper by a review of the related literature, a survey administered to over 1,100 companies in the industry, and a panel discussion with a group of logistics academics and industry practitioners. The implications of the findings are discussed and recommendations for the development of SCM in the industry are provided.
