Abstract
Examples of trinuclear lanthanide (Ln) complexes using bridging sulfato and hydroxo ligands for Ln = Eu and Tb are reported. Structural data demonstrate that three nine-coordinate Ln3+ ions are caged in a monomeric structure in [Ln3(phen)3(OH)(SO4)4(DMF) 3] · DMF · H2O, with Ln⋯Ln distances slightly greater than 4 Å. The luminescence and excitation spectra have been recorded and interpreted.
