Abstract

The hydrogen storage properties and structure of Mg3Pr and Mg3PrNi0.1alloys were investigated by X-ray diffraction and pressure-composition-isotherm measurement. Both Mg3Pr and Mg3PrNi0.1alloys can absorb hydrogen at room temperature (298 K) with rapid hydriding-dehydriding kinetics. The reversible hydrogen storage capacities of Mg3Pr and Mg3PrNi0.1alloys reach 2.58 and 3.23 wt.%, respectively. The enthalpy and entropy of the Mg3Pr-H dehydriding reaction were also calculated.
