Abstract

There are some interesting problems and pitfalls in plate analysis and design which are worth reviewing. The applications of boundary conditions, stress recovery, support stiffness, lateral shear force and design of shear are addressed in the paper. It is recommended that greater care must be paid if a proper analysis is to be performed, and cost saving may be possible in some situations.
