Abstract

Based on the experience of developing a single-wheel CPX vehicle in 2007, a new two-wheeler CPX vehicle comprising a twin cell acoustic enclosure was developed Hong Kong based on the draft ISO11819-2 in 2009. The main features of this vehicle are that it travels on the wheel track on the surveyed road surface; it collects instantaneous data including tyre/road sound pressure level, vehicle speed, air and road surface temperatures, GPS signal, and road surface texture profile. The ISO "removed tyre" certification tests have been performed on this newly developed CPX vehicle on roads. It was observed that the selection of road surface, the vibration of the vehicle and the test tyre had significant effects on the certification results.
