Abstract

The flow characteristics in S-shaped ducts has been studied. It has been shown that there is reason to investigate why the flow behavior in the 2129 duct is different from that of the S-shaped diffusing ducts previously investigated under the same inlet conditions. It is a unique characteristic of the 2129 duct that, due to the implementation of a centre straight section, the flow development inside the duct is altered so significantly that it leads to a totally different trend with change in inlet boundary layer conditions to the flow in S-ducts consisting of two curved bends.
