Abstract

A novel solar tracking scheme which adopts a linear switched reluctance motor (LSRM) as its servo actuator, is proposed in this paper. Three control schemes are designed for different requirements. The solar tracking system is divided into an electromagnetic subsystem and a mechanical subsystem, which are corresponding to the electromagnetic behaviors and the mechanical movement, respectively. The system controller has a cascaded structure, and two different controllers are designed for the two subsystems. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the modeling and the control scheme.
