Abstract
It was found that bleaching the cellulose fibres increased the elastic modulus and flexural strengh of the cements, but decreased the work of fracture when compared to similar properties for unbleached fibre composites. Slow crack growth studies showed that bleached-fibre composites were less compliant and had smaller inelastic crack tip zones at similar crack lengths than unbleached-fibre composites. Slow crack growth resistance curves were evaluated.
