Abstract

The output polarization of a fiber distributed feedback laser was stabilized using an active injection locking technique. Distributed feedback fiber laser was fabricated by scanning a phase mask in a 5 cm long hydrogenated Er/Yb fiber using a 248 nm excimer laser. Injection locking was achieved by fine-tuning the operating temperature of the Fabry-Perot laser diode. Linear polarized output with degree of polarization larger than 95% and side mode supression ratio higher than 45 dB was achieved.
