Abstract

In this article, the authors present a simulation model of multiphase switched reluctance motor based on a combination of circuit-oriented and signal-oriented approaches under MATLAB/SimPowerSystems environment. It is shown that the proposed model combines the advantages of both circuit- and signal-oriented approaches. The nonlinear magnetic characteristics of both self- and mutual-couplings are taken into account by means of look-up tables. Contributions of the instantaneous electromagnetic torque from the self- and mutual-couplings are derived. Simulation and experimental results are reported and compared to verify the simulation model.
