Service supply chain management is an emerging and critical area. As an introductory chapter, we first examine how the systems engineering approach, which includes four critical steps (defining systems requirements, designing and developing systems, operating the systems, and supporting the systems), can be applied for exploring service supply chain systems. Then, we introduce the papers featured in this book and propose how they could fit into the systems engineering approach.
