Abstract
This article discusses the relevance of self-directed learning in fieldwork education in Hong Kong. A workshop for fieldwork educators aimed at facilitating self-directed learning of occupational therapy students through the use of learning contracts is reported. The pros and cons of using self-directed learning in Hong Kong are discussed in the light of the cultural context.
