Abstract

Completing a full IAQ evaluation would be difficult since different indicators require different measurement devices. Therefore, a recent study proposed an IAQ index using only three indicators to identify poor IAQ in air-conditioned buildings. A similar method was applied in the present study to evaluate the IAQ in an air-conditioned university library. Both questionnaire surveys and onsite measurements were conducted in a university library for five consecutive days. The IAQ indexes were calculated based on the measured values of CO2, PM10, and TVOC; the related likelihood ratios that were used to indicate the probabilities of occupants’ dissatisfaction with the IAQ were calculated based on the questionnaire results. Results indicated that the investigated library had a lower risk of dissatisfying students: the IAQ unsatisfactory probabilities were less than 50% during the whole measurement period, and the unsatisfactory probabilities were less than 20% during 73% of the time.
