Abstract
Vondrák filter Is a unique technique for processing data that aims to balance between data "fidelity" and "smoothness". It can therefore preserve to certain extent the original attribute of observational data while at the same time smooth out the noise. 1D Vondrák filter has been widely used In such fields as astronomy, geophysics and geodynamics. We extend In this paper the commonly used 1D Vondrák filter Into 2D, and apply the filter thus obtained to filtering radar Interferograms. In doing this, the real and the Imaginary parts of a SAR interferogram are filtered separately, and the filtering of the interferometric phases Is achieved by calculating the argument (?) of the filtered interferogram. Experimental results obtained with simulated datasets show that the new filter can eliminate up to about 78% of the noise In the interferogram.
