Abstract
Design researches from the aspect of design and emotion showed that the emotional responses of users could be motivated through different forms, appearances and styles of the design outcomes. Some of them even explored the close relationships and the interactions among them. On the other hand, it is also worthwhile to understand how designers introduce emotional concerns in design outcomes to motivate and affect users to encourage certain kinds of emotional responses. By investigating those supported theories and case studies, we can understand how designers could communicate with users by applying a new perspective of emotional flow. This paper aims to explore and illustrate the close relationships among designers, design outcomes and users by using the proposed new model and perspectives under the umbrella of design and emotion. Analysis and insights are also developed to build up the concept model for emotionalise design, emotional design and emotion design, and to explore their close relationships with clearly defined differences and meanings. Hence, the change of designers' role under the new consideration of emotion and design is also explored and investigated, which help us further understand how emotion closely relates to the human-oriented design activities.
