Abstract

The issue of facilitating efficient access of rich media such as Flash is becoming a seminal research problem. We describe here an on-going approach to addressing Flash movie retrieval. In this approach, an OXF (Object XML for Flash) model is devised to first convert Flash movies into XML format. We then apply Structural Join Index Hierarchy (SJIH) indexing technique to enhance the retrieval of OXF objects. A cost model for query execution through SJIH is developed. Initial experimental studies on SJIH-based Flash movie retrieval have demonstrated performance advantageous when compared with other indexing techniques.
