Abstract

Advancement in medical care and socioeconomic development has greatly increased life expectancy worldwide. Old-age care is a growing challenge due to the increase in age-related chronic health conditions and degenerative diseases. As recommended in the implementation framework of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing (MIPAA), active involvement from communities and families in the care of older people is of equal significance in the continuum of long-term care
