N2 - As Generation Z increasingly becomes the dominant consumer group in the cruise tourism market, their distinct cognitive characteristics and psychological needs present new challenges for the design of interactive experiences on large cruise ships. This study aims to develop an interactive experience design methodology for large cruise ships based on the cognitive characteristics of Generation Z. Using a combination of literature review, in-depth interviews, and surveys, this study explores the cognitive characteristics of Generation Z and proposes a theoretical framework for interactive experience design, structured around three layers: the “sensation layer”, “thinking layer”, and “memory layer”. Taking Disney Cruise as an example, the feasibility of the design framework was verified from three dimensions: enhancing multidimensional sensory experience, innovating interactive participation modes, and strengthening situational narrative performance. This study not only provides theoretical support and practical implications for innovating cruise experience design but also establishes a foundation for better addressing the needs of Generation Z tourists and supporting the high-quality development of the cruise industry.
