Abstract
Compared with other kinds of hydraulic motors, the hydraulic gear motor has a simple and compact structure with reliable performance. It is comparatively easy to realize a small size and light weight for superhigh speed and light load applications. It is usually considered that hydraulic gear motors make a great noise and the gears suffer serious scoring when they rotate at high speed. Therefore, a reduction in noise and the improvement of the anti-scoring capability are key factors in increasing the speed of hydraulic gear motors. This paper reviews the problems and studies all aspects of gears, bearings, seals and structure based on a series of laboratory tests. A new concept in the design of high speed hydraulic gear motors is presented with some research results. (from authors' abstract)
