Abstract
The positioning technology based on Zigbee has been used in the research on indoor positioning. The accuracy of weighted centroid algorithm which is commonly used relies on the parameter of path loss model. This paper presents the parameter estimation method for the path loss model by the evolution theory. Furthermore, the random search algorithm based on the evolutionary strategy has been applied to obtain the best model parameter, the experiments designed carefully have been conducted in the field, and the results of the experiments proved that the improved method applied to the path loss model is successful inside the testing area, but not outside the test area, since the standard deviation (STD) of positioning outside the testing area is too big.
