Abstract

A generalised MIMO receiver configuration is presented featuring reduced hardware complexity. Beamforming in the analogue domain with real-valued weights is employed to constructively combine received signals and relax dynamic range prior to digitization. The weights then comprise the matrix inversion process that enables retrieval of the received original baseband signals for further digital processing. Simulations show the configuration has favourable dynamic range performance enabling it to both reduce required number of ADCs and their overall power consumption.
